Wildcats finish sixth at Big Sky Championships

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. The Weber State men's and women's track and field team finished their indoor season at the Big Sky Championship this weekend. Both the men's and women's team finished sixth with 43 and 51.83 points respectively. The Wildcats ended the meet with eight All-Conference honors. lt;br />"Everyone is excited about what we did at this meet," Director of Track and Field Dan Walker said. "We had a lot of athletes step up when we needed it. This is a good sign for the outdoor season with some added events and adding some more athletes." lt;br />Northern Arizona won the men's title and Sacramento State won the women's title. lt;br />On the women's side, they had four athletes earn four All-Conference honors. Jamie Stokes ran away from the field in final lap of the mile to earn her first career individual Big Sky title. Her time of 4:57.77 was six seconds faster than Caroline Hogardh of NAU. Ellie Child finished second in the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:07.89 while Stokes was just seconds behind in fifth. Paige Cooper earned All-Conference honors with her third place finish in the high jump while Lindsey Larsen took eighth in the same event. Jazmin Porter took third in the shot put with her mark of 49-05.00. Tawnie Moore broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.65. placing sixth. lt;br />On the men's side, Tony Osheku Jr. was the lone individual to earn All-Conference honors on the final day of the championships. His time of 21.68 in the 200-meters was good enough for third place. Also, Osheku placed seventh in the 60-meters. The 4x400 meter relay team finished third in 3:15.39 behind Northern Colorado and Sacramento State. lt;br />Dustin Durfee took fourth in the 400-meters in a seasonal-best time of 48.21 while Ryan Carlson's personal-best time in the 60-meter hurdles earned him eighth place. lt;br />Justin Herbert placed seventh in the weight throw with his mark of 57-03.4
