Former Wildcat Brett Hales takes second at XTERRAPublished by
OGDEN, Utah Former Weber State track and field All-American Brett Hales participated in the Xterra Trail Run World Championships this past Sunday. The 21-kilometer race has held on Kualoa Ranch, Oahu, Hawaii. Hales faced competition from 40 different states and 20 countries.
lt;br />Hales finished second with a time of 1:19:47, three minutes behind the two-time defending champion Patrick Smyth of Salt Lake City, Utah.
lt;br />Hales qualified for the championships after winning the XTERRA Trail Run National Championship title in September when he took first in a race held at Snowbasin. Earlier this year, he qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials in the marathon by running 1:04.31 in the Rock ‘n' Roll Half Marathon in Las Vegas.
lt;br />He earned his only All-American honor in 2011 placing fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Read the full article at: www.weberstatesports.com
