Comments
PROVO, Utah The Weber State men's and women's cross-country took their talent to the BYU Autumn Classic early Saturday morning. A week removed from their first race, both teams finished third overall. lt;br /> lt;br />BYU was the men's race for the seventh straight time, as they had 21 points while UCLA had 49. The Wildcats finished with 66 beating fellow Big Sky school Idaho State. lt;br /> lt;br />The men's team was in a battle for second place until the last 800 meters when senior Mike Hardy, who was in second place at that time, was unable to finish. With Hardy out, senior Trevor Ricks outkicked fellow teammate senior Tyler Robinson to finish in 10th place with a time of 20:32.6 on the 4-mile course. Robinson time of 20:33.9 was good enough for 11th place. lt;br /> lt;br />Tip Worob finished 18th, Jason Kearns was 23rd, Brett Lechtenberg was 25, and Joe Maloney was 32nd. lt;br /> lt;br />"I was fine how the team raced but we could have been farther up if Mike was able to finish," WSU head coach Paul Pilkington said. "I thought Tyler Robinson once again had a great race and Trevor was able to outkick him at the finish." lt;br /> lt;br />Minnesota won the team title with 29 points just narrowly beating out BYU with 35 points. Stokes paced herself wisely as she was sitting in 25th place half way through the race. Sophomore Hailey Ricks barely missed out on the top ten by finishing 14th in 18:42.6 while Ellie Child was 20th. lt;br /> lt;br />The top three were followed by a pair of freshmen, Paige Dilmore and Taylor Cox who were racing for the first time in their collegiate career. Dilmore finished 28th with Cox right behind her in 30th. lt;br /> lt;br />Amanda Ward finished 46th, Sara Mathewson was 54th, Ashley Kealamakia was 57th, and Brittney Thornock was 62nd. lt;br /> lt;br />"The race went out a lot harder tha
